Monster Within (Part 2) L.A. Presents:

Rachel hurries from Dr. Croft lab with the file disk and dashes to elevator. The mixed emotions of fear and anger run vaguely through her mind as she thinks of Darnell’s well being. Rachel-*thinks* Please Darnell, just hang on.…….. Meanwhile back in the parking lot, the spider creature now faces a living inferno in front of him. Josh- Darnell, stay back! The creature snarls and continues to make his advance towards Josh. Josh focuses his powers to make his blue fiery aura hotter and brighter. The creature step backs and snarls wildly. Security Officer-Freeze you mutants! Make any moves and I will shoot! The creature turns it’s attention towards the security officer and races towards him. Josh flies by the creature and lifts the officer out of the way. Josh-You know, that was really stupid. If I could not fly, you would be spider food…… He jets the officer to safety and races back to the spider creature that is now not seen. Josh-Damn it………where did he go? The Spider creature leaps from the ceiling of the next level parking lot and pounces on Josh. He holds down Josh with 2 of his hands and punches Josh with the other appendages. Josh-Oooff……….ooofff……forgive me Rachel……… Josh unleashes a great blue flame and it sends the creature rocketing into a nearby car. It wails in agonizing pain as it continues to scorch in flames. Josh watches in regret and then looks stunned. The flames go out and the burning wounds on the creature begin to rapidly heal. Josh-Oh hell, this is not going to go well at all…….. The Creature spews webbing from his hands and ensnares Josh and draws him near. Josh tries using his powers to fly away but is unsuccessful. Josh-Damn it…you are a strong one! Josh tries to burn the webbing by increasing his body temperature but again another failed attempt. The creature yanks Josh towards him and clotheslines him to the concrete smashing it. Josh-Unnnfffhh! Okay…that hurt….. The Creature lifts him and hurls him onto a car and slowly walks towards him. Meanwhile, Rachel valiantly searches the disk for information regarding the spider/lizard DNA. Rachel-Come on…it has got to be here somewhere! Wait…here it is! Rachel focuses her powers and tries to reach Josh telepathically. Rachel-*Josh, can you hear me* Josh-Josh is not here right now, but at the sound of an agonizing scream of pain…. Leave a message. Rachel-What is wrong!? I am going to focus my powers to see Darnell….. Rachel uses Josh’s eyes to see Darnell and her heart sinks into her stomach and her eyes reveal a horrified glance. Rachel-Darnell………no! Josh, there has got to be info here to help him. Try to keep him occupied while I find a vaccine and please be careful! Josh-Do I get a passionate kiss if I succeed in this? Rachel-Please…. Help me Josh……. Josh manages to burn away the webbing and begins hovering in the air. Josh-All right Spidey………round 2! Josh unleashes powerful fire bolts from his hands at the creature but the creature is able to out maneuver every attempt. Josh-Damn it………..be a good spider and hold still!! Josh hurls more fiery bolts at the creature, but the again no success. The creature charges and makes an incredible leap at Josh and backhands him. Josh-OOOOof!! Josh soars into a car and it explodes. Josh thunderbolts from the car and tackles the creature. Josh-Damn it, just stay down!! Meanwhile back at Miles Research & Science, Rachel makes a discovery. Rachel-Here it is! Let me see…once the saliva or DNA from the specimen is introduced into the host’s bloodstream, characteristic traits bonds with the host’s DNA! Wow, that was easy…just need to find a vaccine to separate the spider DNA from Darnell. Rachel starts up an experimental machine and begins on the vaccine. Meanwhile, a few blocks away from the parking lot of Miles Research & Science, a young reporter is about to go live. Winona-You know, just once I would love to get a real story instead of these rinky dink traffic reports. Aren’t I beautiful and talented enough for a real big break? Cameraman-Hmmm, could it be that you are too conceited? Winona-Who asked you anything? Cameraman-Well, you asked and I answered. If you did not like the response…….. The cameraman is distracted once he sees a huge ball of flame heading their way. Cameraman-Winona, get down!!! They duck out of the way as the huge abomination of blue flames hits the streets and scorches the air. The people around look in fear and anxiousness as to see what is happening. Winona-Ouch…what the hell was that!? Josh stands up and pops his neck. Josh-Damn it…he is one tough little spider. Josh stops as the creature stands up behind him. Josh soars to the air and turns to see the creature. The people in the area begin running in fear and taking cover at the sight of the two monstrosities. Winona-Well don’t just stand there with the camera up your ass, lets go live! Cameraman-Yes mistress! You are live in 4.……..3.…….2.…1.…. Winona-This is Winona Smith with WNYZ with a special report! Two mutants came down here in Downtown New York literally in a ball of flame and are wreaking havoc as we speak! The cameraman turns the camera at the fighting as Josh soars through the air firing blast after blast of fire at the agile and might creature. The creature maneuvers out of the way and picks up a car with a small family inside. Little Girl-Ahhh! Daddy!! Father-Please…don’t hurt us! The creature hurls the car at a nearby building and Josh watches in terror. Josh-NOOO!!!! Josh jets over to the car and tries to stop it, but it smashes into the building. He snatches open the door to see that the father and daughter are unconscious. Josh-Somebody call an ambulance!! Now! The people are horrified at the site of a blue flaming mutant and do not move. Winona picks up her cell phone and dials 911. Winona-Yes, we need help down here now! A man and a little girl are hurt………yes, the location of the two mutants fighting! Hurry! The creature give a huge roar and turns his attention to the people trying to escape. He shoots webbing from the top of his hands and swings over to pounce the crowd but Josh hurls a scorching ball of flame and sends the spider creature rocketing onto a deserted transportation bus. Josh-I know you are in there Darnell, stop this now! The creature looks at Josh and then yells. It charges towards Josh and leaps into the air but Josh soars towards it and grabs him by the legs and begins twirling him around in mid air. He continues twirling him and then lets go sending the creature to the streets and makes a huge crater. Cameraman-I do not believe this! That fire mutant is………..is…protecting us from that Man Spider! Winona-I don’t believe it either, but it is happening! Josh hovers towards the crater in the middle of the street and observes that the creature is no longer moving. He walks over towards the creature, as it lies lifeless in the crater. Josh-*sighs* Damn it…….. Suddenly, it awakens and grabs Josh with all of its arms and begin squeezing the life out of him. Josh tries to burn hotter and hotter but the creature continues to progress. Josh-Rachel………….I am sorry……… Out of the sky, a blue illuminating figure soars down to the scene and releases Josh from the creature’s death grip. Josh looks over and does not recognize the figure until it speaks. Rachel-Hard day, huh sweetie? Josh-Rachel! Am I glad to see you! Ermmm, what the hell is that light? Rachel-I am focusing my powers so that nobody will recognize me…sort of like your flaming state and nobody recognizes you. Josh-Excellent, can you cure him? Rachel focuses her powers on the creature and it hovers towards them. Rachel-I am not sure Josh, but I hope so. First, I am going to try to reach him telepathically. Darnell……………can you hear me? The creature wails in agony and tries to resist Rachel’s beckon. Memories of Rachel and Darnell soar through its mind and the creature begins to become more calm… Creature-Ra…….Rac…………Rachel? What…what is going on? Rachel unveils a syringe and injects the serum into the creature. It becomes unconscious and begins to morph back into a human form. Josh-Let us make a departure and get him to Miles Hospital. They fly away as the crowd look in awe as of a grand miracle had just occurred. Winona watches and motions back to the live camera feed. Winona-Ladies and gentleman, two mutants stopped a crisis today here in our city and I give my thanks for their courageous act. Had not been for their valiant efforts, this could have had a lot more victims……….. A collage of thoughts runs through Darnell’s head. Memories from the past………….memories of his friends‘…………memories of everything that have occurred his life. At the end of these images stands the spider creature looking down at Darnell. Darnell is first horrified at the appearance of the creature but then is not afraid and becomes somewhat sad for the monster. The creature lends forward towards Darnell and begins to speak… Spider Creature-I give you…………my gift. Darnell wakes up and is sweating. He looks around a small room and calms down. An I.V. is in his arm and he lies back down. Darnell-A hospital…how did I end up here? What the hell is going on? A small insect appears outside the window of Darnell’s hospital window about the size of a dragonfly. It is actually an artificial reconnaissance bug…one of Dr. Croft’s creations. It watches over Darnell while Dr. Croft sits in a laboratory somewhere on the other side of New York City. Dr. Croft grins in happiness of the events that have occurred. Croft-Well, he surpassed all my expectations. That meddling Rachel somehow was able to reverse the effects though………no matter. This was all I needed to continue my research. Oh my, the future is looking wonderful. Dr. Croft sits back in his chair and gives a sadistic smile.
